halloween in shibuya
A fun crossover challenge, merging classic Halloween visuals with popular animated series Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya arc (canonically set on October 31, 2018).

3D environments and objects modeled in Maya. A haunted house environment for the core setting of the project and skeletal version of a famous Jujutsu Kaisen character hand sign for the intro.

Modeled and textured in Maya, adjusted for After Effects compatibility in Cinema 4D, imported through Element 3D, animated and composited in AE.
The goal in this section was for each scene to feel like it was happening in a different room inside the 3D haunted house, with all the laws of physics that that would break. The camera acts as the viewer’s POV as they explore this bizarre environment and the host of characters inside.

Strategic glows and clean shape layer morphing using gaussian blurs, levels adjustments, and turbulent displacements.
Gradients and color correction around a Halloween-themed palette bring the assorted scenes together visually.
