3D modeling:

Environments

Studies in 3D

Maya & Houdini 3D modeling explorations from my time at UPenn as an undergrad and then a design & fine arts TA.

I quickly found environment modeling to be a personal favorite, captivated by the ability to create any space I could picture in my mind, and began incorporating 3D models into my design work.

location unknown

Excerpt from an original animated short about crossing paths, set in Paraty, a preserved Portuguese colonial town in Brazil known for its colorful windows and doors.

This scene was modeled, textured, and animated in Maya, with each building a unique variant of Paraty’s iconic architecture using texture samples from the actual town.

experiments in lighting

Stop-motion paper cut-outs and simplistic object geometry in a 3D environment that is all about the lighting.

Rainbow hues were achieved by having exterior light sources filter through the stained glass windows and playing with refractive and reflective properties in Maya.
